Panama City
The city of panama constitutes the most important business and exchange center of the region. It is located strategically in the coast of the Pacific ocean. The capital of the Isthmus offers the visitors the opportunity to appreciate its historic evolution, while knowing its architecture, values its contribution and understands its heritage.

The economic success of Panama in banking started since the times of the Gold Fever in California (1853-1856), when offices were opened of Hil Fargo bank opened their doors to the public. In 1904, the Government founded the Mortage Bank of the republic, that in 1911 received the name of National Bank of Panama, as it is known now days.

Panama represents for the banking entities a strategic center of business, with adequate tax conditions fro the offshore transactions. There are two official banks, 40 with general licenses, 37 with international license and 4 office of representation.

The province of Panama whose geographical area is of 11,887 square kilometers, offers the visitor no just great opportunities of business but also sets out its natural beauty for those adventure lovers. Sports such as surfing, fishing and scuba diving are practiced in the paradisiacal beaches of the Pacific ocean and in the 227 islands that belong to the Archipielago of Las Perlas. Coclé
Considered as one of the central provinces of Panama, Cocle stands up for its craftwork, cattle farming and agriculture, principal base of its economy. The sugar cane is the most important cultivation. Its geography has allowed the establishment of big international and national industries, which production and distribution starts from there to the rest of the country and the world.

Herrera
Is one of the most representative provinces of Panama. Tradition, culture and identity give Herrera an invaluable esteem for all Panamanians. Its districts are dedicated in their majority to agriculture and cattle farming production, because its extended flat terrain allows it.

The smallest province, Herrera has few kilometers of coast, but still is a must destination when you visit panama. You can visit the Sarigüa National Park, eight thousand hectares of dessert, most of it is eroded; the rest is composed by mangrove swamps and archeological zones. It is considered the hottest place in the country.

Los Santos
Located in the peninsula of Azuero, Los Santos province is at the same time historic and tourist complete. Surrounded by mountains and a flat terrain by the Pacific Oceanside, its most important areas offer the visitors a comprehensive sample of the Panamanian nationality while enjoying unique beaches. Home of independent heroes, Los Santos was one of the first regions in the country in declaring their independence as a republic (november 10, 1821)

Its main activities are agriculture,, coffee and sugar cane cultivation, and cattle farming.

Veraguas
The only privileged province with both oceans, veaguas is located in the central region of the country and occupies a territorial surface of 11,239.2 sqkm. In the conquest times, Christopher Columbus founded on the river Belen´s bank the first population of the continent, named Santa Maria de belen, in 1503. Also from Veraguas was born Urraca, a Panamanian native hero that fought against the Spanish colonial system.

The Ngöble-Bugle natives of the area work primarily in agriculture, cattle farming and craftwork. Sona is its most productive district and it owes such name to a native boss of the area and is distinguished for its industrial and farming activities.

Chiriqui
A complete province, strong economically and highly productive in sectors like agriculture and cattle farming. Chiriqui stands out also for its beautiful geography composed of mountains, rivers, beaches and a volcano. Its educational level os high, what emphasized it inhabitants in all the country

Its climate in highlands is what has converted Chiriqui in the favorite tourist destination for Panamanians and foreigners. Regions like Cerro Punta, Bambito and Boquete this last valley is one the side hill of the Volcan Baru, the highest point in Panama (3,475m), is a tourist sector: flowers, oranges and coffee producer that invites each year thousands of tourist.

Its rivers allow the visitors to practice rafting. And if exploring is its hobby, you should visit La Amistad International Park, Volcan Baru national Park and Golfo of Chiriqui Marine National Park.

Bocas del Toro
Bocas del Toro, a province that was lost in the time and that in the last years its beauty has rescued it from being forgotten and transformed into a successful international tourist destination. More than a extensive archipielago of islands and within limits of Costa Rica, Bocas del Toro offers the visitors beautiful beaches that will allow for scuba diving, kayaking, surfing, fishing or simply enjoying the Caribbean beaches.

The island Colon is the head of the province. Their architecture houses of wood they constitute it on steer, the mayority in the sea. You will be able to know the oldest car of firemen of the country and to have a taste the most exquisite Caribbean food in its picturesque restaurants.

Colon
The second most important commercial province after panama, Colon represents a center of economic exchanging which path its originated from the colonial times, when the conquest gold was storage in Protobelo (1597), a Caribbean port considered in 1980 Patrimonial Heritage.

It is the 4th province most populated in the country and its capital, is located only 80 kilometers from the city of Panama. On 1855, the first intercontinental railroad was constructed there. The city of  Colon was initially known as Aspinwall, but the government of Colombia changed the name to Colon in 1890.

Its climate is rainy most of the year. Its scenery is mountainous and its beaches are one of the most attractive for locals and tourist. Colon constitutes the Panama canal entrance through the Atlantic Ocean, and has established the Colon free Zone, the largest free zone in the western hemisphere and second worldwide after Hong Kong.

In recent years has been notorious the international investment in this province, projects as Colon 2000, has achieved successes in the commercial and tourist area.

Kuna Yala
There is no better definition of “tropical paradise” as the region of Kuna Yala, which includes a continental and insular portion of the territory of the Republic of Panama, and that is located in the eastern part of the side of the Panamanian Caribbean. It limits in the west  with the District of Holy Isabel of the Province of Colon, in the southeast with the Republic of Colombia, in the north with the Caribbean sea and in the south with the provinces of Panama and Darien.

It was officially recognized by the law 16 of 1953, are 365 islands the ones that form part of this archipielago that in times of the conquest known as Archipielago of the Beards. Of these islands, we find some 49 inhabited and a great number of coral reef.

The Kunas, as they are called, are considered one of the few native tribes of the American continent that maintains almost intact its culture in spite of the global changes the affect the world surrounding them. This characteristic is what more calls the attention of the visitors. The best season to go to Kuna Yala is between the months of May and November, without forgetting the celebration of the Revolution Kuna, every 25th of February.

It can be reached to the region from the City of Panama, by daily flights od 25 minutes. If you prefer adventure, you can arrive at the region by highway during the summer in car of double traction, taking the Pan-American Highway in direction to the region of Bayano, diverting the height of The Plain of Chepo to arrive directly to the coastal community of Cartí, where canoes or rowboats can be rented to be transported to the island of its preference.

Darien
The least populated, more extensive and wild of the provinces of Panama, darien is available to the visitor to explore and rediscover it step by step. It is inhabited in its majority by Kunas, Emberá y Wounaan natives; Darien shares its territory with the Embera region located in the Cemaco and Sambu districts. It is geographically located in the oriental extreme side of Panama, bordering with Colombia.

Darien is a protected area and has a National Park, recognized by the UNESCO in 1981 as a Cultural Worldwide Heritage, and in 1983 was named in the category of Biodiversity Reserve. There are six hundred thousand hectares that include the National reserve “Punta Patiño” and the Corredor Biológico of Bagre mountainous region. Scientists from all over the world work observing the birds and do research of the virgin forest and fauna, considered the second most rich tropical biodiversity after the Amazons.
